In 2016, we made the decision to accelerate the retirement of our Boeing 737-300 aircraft (Classics). In 2017, we retired the remaining 87 Classics by the end of the third quarter. On Oct. 1, 2017, we began flying the 737 MAX 8, ending the year with 13 in our all-Boeing fleet of 706 aircraft. As compared with the prior generation of 737 aircraft, the 737 MAX 8 provides an increased range, the Boeing Sky Interior (similar to the 737-800s), improved cockpit capabilities, a quieter engine, and is approximately 14 percent more fuel efficient than the 737-800 aircraft.
